If you are looking for a place to have a retreat, family reunion, a girls getaway, or a birthday celebration - THE AWOSTING MOUNTAIN HOUSE IS IDEAL.

Built in the 1890's as a hunting retreat, the Awosting Mountain House was then turned into the main lodge for a Girl Scout Camp in the 1950's-1960's. A private residence after that, the house boasts rich history within its American Chestnut walls, a wood now extinct. Decorated and added onto by the current family from the 1960's on, the Awosting Mountain House is a museum of curated artifacts and a feast for the eyes. There are several levels of decks facing the valley, 2 freshwater reflection pools and a 150' waterfall. The sound of running water abounds.

First floor: 1 small bunk room with 2 small single beds and two bedrooms with queen beds all share a bathroom. 1 queen bed with en-suite bathroom is off the dining room on the first floor. This bedroom was occupied by Ralph Lauren in the 1980's when he would stay at the house. The dining room with vaulted ceilings seats 8. The living room has the original fire place, cozy reading and chess nooks, a Grand Piano, and another dining option for 8-10. Cook On Julia Child's stove in the well equipped kitchen. The multi-use Falls Room is perfect for playing musical instruments, practicing yoga, watching a movie or having a meeting.

Second Floor: Open concept suite with Queen bed, living room, and nusery connects to the bathroom with tub and shower. Two queen bed reading nooks can sleep and additional 2 people each.

This house is NOT for everyone. It is rustic and a unique experience. The terrain around the house we call 'expert' terrain. It is uneven and requires attention. There are air conditioning units in the main living room the Falls room/playroom. There is NO Air Conditioning in the rest of the house. Most summer nights are fine, but some can be hot - and fans are in all bedrooms.

Groups and families of 10-12 are ideal with a max capacity of 12. Additional accommodations are available in the property for larger groups.

This house comes with a host who lives nearby. The host can grocery shop for you prior to arrival, book massages, yoga, suggest hikes and arrange for a private chef to prepare dinners for an additional cost. Inquire for more info.

Th Awostng Mountain house resides on Private Reserve land - called The Awosting Club - open to members and their guests. The 1 mile driveway requiring 4 wheel drive in winter months. We have private hiking on our property as well as Unparalleled proximity to 30,000 acres of Park and Preserve land - all a 20 min drive to park entrances. Incredible views and surrounding nature abounds. It is a hikers and nature lovers paradise.
